There is an island secret that I’m going to share with everyone. It has to do with Maui. It has to do with the beaches, restaurants and activities. It has to do with the months of April, May and June. That’s right, these three months seem to get quiet compared to the other months during the year. So, with April fast approaching it is a good time to talk about vacationing in Maui during spring as opportunity that otherwise may come and go with only a few lucky travelers realizing April, May and June’s potential.

First, lets talk about the weather during April though June. For travelers who want cooler temperatures compared to the summer, vacationing during spring is a perfect opportunity. Imagine, warm and beautiful days with pleasant, tropical nights at a time when restaurants are quiet with little wait.
Those who have traveled to Maui during the “high” season know that the beaches and pools can get a little busy, leaving lounge chairs and palm trees occupied before some people have a chance to finish their spam and eggs. However, for those who want to sleep-in and still be able to find available lounge chairs, the answer may be planning the Maui vacation during spring. Also, there will be plenty of space on the beach to lay out your extra large beach towel, chair, cooler and oversized umbrella, just remember to bring your sun screen.

Having it so easy may give you some extra energy for one of Maui’s many (uncrowned) activities. Everything from horseback riding to sailing will be at your figure tips. Often, catamarans are only half full and parasailing is being offered from Lahaina to Kaanapali Beach. Also, on April 15 Maui hosts Hawaii’s state fishing championship called the “Black & Blue Striped Shootout” . This event happens once a year and only during April. For more information visit www.bluemarlinshootout.com.
This spring the Maui Arts and Cultural Center will be having a wide array of performances from Rock and Roll to Ballet. Specifically, on April 2, Maui Arts and Cultural Center will present a concert featuring Rock & Roll Hall-of-Famer Elvis Costello. On the other hand, for those who want something with a little more dancing and less Rock & Roll, on April 6, the artistic directors Medhi Bahiri & Judith Fugate will be presenting Ballet NY. This performance is touted as being a top-notch ballet that enthusiast will cherish. For more information about these and other planned events at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center, visit www.mauiarts.org.

The secret is out. From quiet beaches to professional performances, spring time in Maui is a wonderful time of year. The pools and restaurants will be uncrowded and outdoor activities may only be half full. For those lucky travelers able to take advantage of Maui during the spring, there is a quiet paradise awaiting.

Top Pick For Maui Restaurants |

The Hali'imaili General Store has a diverse menu in a casual, country atmosphere -here is a review of a popular restaurant call -Hali'imaile.
- Hali'imaili General Store - The Hailiimaili General Store is located near Makawo. The restaurant serves great food in a causal indoor environment. The Haliimail General Store is open for lunch and dinner. Typically the wait is about twenty minutes and the drive from Kaanapali Beach will take about 60 minutes. For lunch, Gail enjoys one of the restaurants salads and Stan enjoys the restaurants famous Baby Back Ribs.
Beside the wonderful food, the Hali'imaili General Store is only a short distance from Makawo. If you are planning an Up County tour, Hali'imaili is a great spot to eat lunch. However, lunch is ONLY served Monday through Friday from 11am to 2:30pm. If you are considering dinner, hours are 5:30pm to 9:30pm nightly. Maui Tip -with the restaurants hours in mind, time your visit to Maui's beautiful "up country" and stop by Hali'imailies General Store for lunch. The 60 minute trip from Kaanapali Beach is worth the drive for dinner, but if you are already planning a visit to Paia, Makawo or Haleakala, this may be the perfect lunch. -oh ya, have a baby back rib for me.
