Black Rock (Pu'u Keka'a) is located on Kaanapali Beach, Maui in front of the Maui Sheraton. Positioned in the middle of Kaanapali Beach, Black Rock splits Maui's famous beach in half. On the North side of Black Rock is the Royal Hawaiian Hotel and on the South side of Black Rock is the Maui Sheraton. The SCUBA diving and snorkeling can be spectacular and safe. However, swimming along the back side of Black Rock can have a current so check with divers and hotel employees before venturing too far. Also, Black Rock can get crowded especially during the summer months. If you are looking to dive, swim or snorkel Black Rock and want to go when the crowds are lighter, try leaving a little earlier to take advantage of the mid-morning hours.

From Gail's Maui vacation condo the tip of Black Rock can be seen from the Lani. If you want to walk to Black Rock it will take about 5 minutes. Also, jumping from Black Rock into the ocean is allowed. It is about a 25 foot jump and you dive into 20 feet of water. In regard to cliff jumping this is fun, easy and safe. Even for those who are not that brave, it is a challenge that many find acceptable.
