Napili is located about 3 miles north of Gail's Maui vacation condo. Interestingly, Napili will get more rain in the morning and late afternoon compared to Kaanapali Beach. Also, Kahana is located along the Hanoapiilaini Highway on the way north to Napili; past Napili is Kapalua. In Kahana there are a couple popular restaurants located in Kahana Gateway. Specifically, many visitors enjoy dinning at Roy's. However, although the food is good at Roy's, in my opinion there are times Roy's can be crowded and noisy. In any case, there is a wonderful chocolate souflet that you have to order 20 minutes in advance. Also, it is not a traditional chocolate souflet so expect something a little different.

The Lower Hanoapiilaini Highway runs parallel with the Upper Hanoapiilaini Highway. To get to the Lower Hanoapiilaini Highway after you leave Kaanapali Beach, make a left at the pink pyramid just off the Hanoapiilani Highway. This pink pyramid is the Embassy Suites located in Kaanapali.

If you are leaving The Whaler at Kaanapali Beach traveling north (away from Lahaina) on the hillside to the right is a residential neighborhood; this is called Kaanapali Hillside. On the North side of Black Rock, opposite Kaaanapali Hillside, is a beach park called North Beach (this is also known as Old Airport Beach). To the south of North Beach are the Kaanapali Villas.

North of the Embossy Suites on the right side of the Hanoapiilaini Highway is Kapalua Airport. On the opposite side of Hanoapiilaini Hightway from Kapalua Airport is Mahina Hina; a residental neighborhood.
